London King’s Park is the biggest and busiest station at McKinley. It is located in the original layout room, and is connected to the railway via the red/green mainlines which run past the station throat.
Based loosely on London’s Paddington Station, it underwent a significant upgrade in 2024 as part of the McKinley extension project. Originally principally a passenger operation, King’s Park is now a 24/7 operation mixing long-distance and local passenger traffic with a wide range of other freight services. These include parcels, mail and newspaper traffic, a post office dedicated to transporting bullion, bonded, motorail, and high-value warehouses and a cold storage facility for meat and other perishable goods. The station also has McKinley’s most extensive locomotive servicing area with coaling and diesel stages, a repair shop, storage tracks and a turntable. Extensive carriage sidings are found just beyond the station throat.
King’s Park is at the core of operating sessions at McKinley, and needs a team of three to keep on top of its demanding passenger and freight timetables. The station manager is assisted by two operators who will be kept busy through a session with a constant flow of arrivals and departures.
